Una crónica de violencia
The director’s vision
We find ourselves in a global political and social moment filled with tension and polarization, where we are constantly exposed to visual violence. Physical violence, verbal violence, institutional violence… many types of violence, nonstop. Many people have theorized how, by being exposed as individuals to such explicit levels of violence through social media, we are becoming a society desensitized to violence, passive, reactionary, and resigned. Through this proposal, we wanted to highlight this and explore what is necessary at stake in a fictional work for the audience to say «Enough.» Whether the audience agrees or disagrees with the use of violence at certain moments or against certain individuals, or whether, for the sake of change, violence is not permitted in any form.
It was therefore very important that the audience be placed above our characters and feel like moderators and decision-makers in the story, and that’s why we decided to turn them into the gods of Olympus. As if they were once again watching a sensationalist television or social media program, the gods will participate in a cynical, tasteless, and pamphleteering program until, at a given moment, they have the option of completely halting their work. What will they do? How will the audience react? These are the concerns and questions that lead us to create this production.
