El secreto del otro
The director’s vision
El Secreto del otro is an interactive show created for a teenage audience based on Milhaud’s La mère coupable, the third and lesser-known part of the Beaumarchais trilogy. It features electronic arrangements of the other two parts of the trilogy: The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro.
When approaching this story for teenagers, I considered the main plot that runs through the entire trilogy and came to the conclusion that it was the relationship between the Count and the Countess. In this third part, they find themselves trapped in an uncertain present due to mistakes made in the past. Both have been dishonest and have led double lives. And it is in this third part that all the lies will gradually be revealed. Can the couple stay together? And what I find even more interesting is the question: Should they stay together?
El Secreto del otro is a journey through this couple’s story where the audience will have the opportunity to decide the ending and conclusion of the opera. Should they stay together or, on the contrary, go their separate ways? Each night, we’ll examine the teenage audience’s view of romantic relationships. Whether this perspective has changed or, on the contrary, remains the same as it was more than 200 years ago.
